empty tomb, inc., a faith-based Christian service and research organization based in Champaign, IL, is seeking to fill the following paid positions (see details below).
- Office Coordinator: 20-25 hours a week, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Building and Grounds: 4 hours a week, to be arranged during Monday through Friday
- Clothing Room Staff: Part-time schedule varies by arrangement, Monday-Friday afternoons, noon – 5pm, and Saturdays 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Home Maintenance Coordinator: Job Sharing up to 40 hours a week, including Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Affirmation of Intention of Conduct and Statement of Faith
In the Champaign-Urbana, IL area, empty tomb, inc. provides assistance, in Jesus’ name, to people who express a need, as resources permit. This assistance includes food, clothing, furniture, and home repair. Also, some limited financial assistance is available through the Helping Work and Medical Fund. Available assistance is offered, free in Jesus’ name, to any person in need (being guided by Jesus’ comments in Luke 6:32–36). empty tomb also provides volunteer service discipleship opportunities for members of historically Christian churches. On a national level, empty tomb’s research analyzes church giving trends. Its Mission Match project is designed to help increase missions giving through historically Christian congregations. The leadership team of staff, officers and board members are asked to sign an Affirmation of Intention of Conduct and Statement of Faith as part of their more specialized service through empty tomb, inc.

Part-time Job Opening:
Building and Grounds
Serve by keeping the empty tomb building in shape to declare “Jesus loves you!” to all who enter. Two hours on two days during Monday through Friday, for a total of four hours a week. Specific hours can be arranged.
Salary: $14.50 per hour.
Duties include:
- cleaning the building and grounds
- keeping building supplies stocked
Desirable skills: Respect for details; have a current driver’s license; desire to serve others in Jesus’ name.
Part-time Job Opening:
Office Coordinator
Use your computer and interaction skills to keep the whole organization humming along.
Hours: 20-25 hours per week, during Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (flexible scheduling).
Salary: $14.50 per hour.
Duties include:
- running the front office.
- data processing, using Excel spreadsheets, updating records, Microsoft Word merging, USPS Bulk Mail mailing preparation by zip codes
- Overseeing schedule and production of our Opportunities newsletter including layout and preparation, using InDesign (willing to train)
- good relational skills with public and team members
- multi-tasking in fast-paced environment
- supervising and working with volunteer receptionists and other volunteers
- ordering supplies and keeping the office stocked
- keeping office neat and organized
Desirable skills: Respect for details; experience in managing and supervising others; experience using Macintosh computers and Microsoft Office (a must), Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (can train); have a current driver’s license; desire to serve others in Jesus’ name.
Part-time Job Opening:
Clothing Room Staff
Use your relational skills to present an inviting setting for donors and visitors to the Clothing Room.
Hours: Available to work by arranged schedule, some afternoons, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM , and some Saturdays (flexible scheduling).
Salary: $14.50 per hour.
Duties include:
- welcome donors, volunteers, and people visiting the Clothing Room
- orient and work with Christian volunteers
- receive, sort, and display donated items
- keep records of donations received, and dried milk and beans distributed
- keep Clothing Room neat and clean
- minister to people throughout the day as you serve Jesus while serving others in His name
Qualifications: Be able to lift 25 pounds; stand at least two hours at a time; supervise and organize others in a pleasant way; desire to show Jesus’ love to each person who visits empty tomb.
Part-time Job Opening:
Home Maintenance Coordinator
Help concerned Christians help local people with home repair needs.
Hours: 20-25 hours per week, including some Saturday mornings for workdays.
Salary: $14.50 per hour.
Duties include a few “must haves”:
- construction experience or familiarity with construction
- willingness to organize jobs for volunteers of varying skill levels
- love of Jesus and a desire to share God’s love with those being served
- willingness to do the paperwork related to organizing the jobs
- willingness to work with churches to secure funds and volunteers for the projects
