Linux / Unix
There is no native QuickTime Player available from Apple to run in the Linux/Unix environment. That said, other applications do exist to play the QuickTime movie format in a Linux/Unix environment such as CrossOver.
For the Linux/Unix interface we are assuming that the user of a Linux/Unix workstation is an advanced user and/or an administrator of the workstation to be able to add this capability to their web browser so no further step-by-step instructions are included.
Other
Other Operating Systems
No other Operating System has been tested for compatibility with this website and would be considered unsupported. Many older Operating Systems would be included in this list such as DOS, Win3.x, Win95, WinNT 3.x, OS 8.5 and below, BeOS,… ect. Unfortunately most of these Operating Systems do not support the most recent and currently available versions of Web Browsers that would be needed to run newer versions of the QuickTime player. The best advice for such systems is to upgrade the web browser as far as your Operating System will allow and try to find an older version of the QuickTime Player or Plug-ins that will work with your Operating System.
Other Web Browsers
Although we focused primarily on the two most popular web browsers (Internet Explorer and Netscape) we found that the QuickTime Plug-ins also worked perfectly in Mozilla’s current release. If you are having problems getting Mozilla to run the QuickTime movies properly the instructions for help are almost identical to those of Netscape’s except of course with obvious name substitutions and version numbers. Basically if you are having problems getting the movies to play, update your web browser to the current version and update QuickTime and it should run.
